Hvasser church is a small wooden church in Færder municipality, and was built in 1903. Since then it has been expanded with a tower and entrance. The top of the tower is marked with the year 1908.
At the 100th anniversary in 2003, the wall panels, originally tree-coloured, were painted in bright green and yellow tones.
Two naves adorn the church room.
The church has a long plan and 180 seats.
On a voluntary basis, Oseberg Viking Heritage has built an archaeological replica of this ship only using tools and construction methods identical to what was used in the Viking Age. The construction took place on Vikingodden on the pier in Tønsberg, and here you can also see the copy of the Oseberg ship, Saga Oseberg, and the copy of another famous find: the Klåstad ship, which has been given the name, Saga Farmann. The original Klåstad ship is now the only Viking ship you can see at a museum in Norway and it is at the Slottsfjell Museum.
Saga Oseberg and Saga Farmann can be seen on Vikingodden all year round, except when they are on a cruise.
In 2021, the construction of an archaeological replica of the Gokstad ship also began. The construction will take place both at Vikingodden in Tønsberg and at the Whaling Monument in Sandefjord. Here you have the opportunity to join and build ships with the Vikings' tools.
At Vikingodden, there are skilled guides in place on the weekends who can tell you about Vestfold's rich Viking history.
Kiosk with souvenirs and gift items.
Oseberg Viking Heritage offers Viking activities and trips with the Viking ship Saga Oseberg for groups from 10-300 people!

Holmestrand Museum – A window into the towns rich history
The museum is open on Sundays during the summer season, and here you can experience exciting exhibitions in unique, historic surroundings.
The museum is housed in a beautiful house from the 18th century, originally built for the Holst family – a prominent family that ran shipping, trade, and farming in Botne. Later, the building housed both the Citizens’ School and a school for the deaf before it became the home of Holmestrand Museum in 1932.
Discover the museum’s many treasures:
Holststuen
An authentic journey back in time to the 1840s, where the Holst family once lived. The room has been faithfully recreated and offers a glimpse of life in a patrician home.
Explore traditional crafts in the craft department, with everything from a watchmaker’s and optician’s workshop to an authentic hairdressing salon and tailoring business. See how a female photographer ran her own business – a rarity in her time!
The Painting and Photography Collection
Enjoy beautiful paintings by Holmestrand’s own artists – a tribute to the town through the eyes of art.
The Kitchen and the Living Room
Experience the contrasts between a stately patrician kitchen and a simple living room, which shows how seafarers’ families lived while waiting for their loved ones.
In the maritime department, you can be impressed by the history of Holmestrand as a maritime town, with insight into shipbuilding and the glory days of the sailing ship era. Here you will find something for both history enthusiasts and curious souls.
Holmestrand Museum is more than a museum – it is an experience. Visit the museum and join a journey through time!
