Anders gjør JOKKE – konsert/ Redninga Scene

Anders Kareliussen brings his guitar to Redninga in Horten for an acoustic concert featuring songs by Jokke, also known as Joachim Nielsen.

Using guitar and vocals as his starting point, Kareliussen performs both well known and lesser known songs from Jokke’s catalogue, giving them his own musical interpretation.

Jokke is regarded as an important figure in Norwegian rock, with songs exploring everyday life, relationships, alienation and the challenges of life.

The evening offers an intimate acoustic interpretation of his music, for both longtime fans and those discovering Jokke’s songs for the first time.

 

Opus One Big Band

Knut Eide tells the story of The Rat Pack through music, images and stories. The concert takes audiences back to Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s, when Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. were central figures in the group’s stage shows.

The Rat Pack is associated with a combination of singing, humour and improvisation, as well as performances at venues such as the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. The repertoire includes well known songs such as You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You, Mr. Bojangles and Fly Me to the Moon.

Knut Eide performs alongside vocalists Cecilie Bjørklund and Therese Kjeldås. The music is performed by Opus One Big Band, a big band with roots in Andebu. Founded in 1990, the band consists of 15 instrumentalists and two vocalists.

Knut Eide is known as a vocalist with bands including Tiger City Jukes, Blues Explotion and the reggae group Buffalo Soldiers, as well as for his work as a big band singer. He has toured in the Nordic countries and Europe and has also performed in the United States.

Cecilie Bjørklund and Therese Kjeldås have been regular vocalists with Opus One Big Band for several years.

The evening combines big band music, vocals and stories from an important period in American entertainment history.

KomiKnut

KomiKnut returns to Horten for another evening of standup comedy, this time featuring Henrik Fladseth and Lars Petersen.

Henrik Fladseth is known for his direct, observational style, drawing humour from everyday situations and experiences that many people can recognise.

Lars Petersen has performed on stages across Norway and returns to his hometown of Horten. This time, he turns his humour towards both himself and the city he grew up in.

The evening brings together two comedians with different perspectives on everyday life, people and Horten.

The Young Musicians’ Gala Concert

Since 2012, the Midgard Competition has provided a platform for young classical musicians. This anniversary concert features three former prize winners who have since established themselves as classical performers: cellist Birgitta Oftestad, soprano Eirin Rognerud and pianist Nikita Knykin.

The Norwegian Navy Band presents a programme featuring works by Friedrich Gulda, Edvard Grieg, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Modest Mussorgsky. The concert is hosted by the band’s presenter, Inge Hatlelid Mortensen.

Birgitta Oftestad opens the concert with two movements from Friedrich Gulda’s Cello Concerto. Eirin Rognerud and the Norwegian Navy Band perform three songs by Edvard Grieg, followed by Nikita Knykin performing the third movement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto.

The programme also includes the Midgard Competition’s own fanfare, Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in B minor and excerpts from Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

The concert is conducted by Ingar Bergby, who served as principal conductor of the Norwegian Navy Band from 2008 to 2014 and has since returned as a guest conductor on several occasions. He has also conducted a number of Norwegian and Nordic symphony orchestras.

Lys i mørket

Lys i mørket is held for the 14th time at Karljohansvern in Horten. Ticket proceeds are donated to the Norwegian organisation LEVE.

The evening walk features a range of cultural contributions along the route, including theatre, choirs, bands, readings, folk songs, galleries and museums.

The Mayor opens the event at 7:00 PM, followed by a musical performance. The walk continues until the last possible exit from Ørnbrua at 9:00 PM. Cultural contributors finish packing up at 9:30 PM.

Flygelfest med Duo Unitas

Duo Unitas consists of saxophonist Heidi Christine Holm Stømer and pianist Kristina Socanski. The duo presents their album In a Landscape in a concert bringing together music from different periods and musical traditions.

The album takes its title from John Cage’s In a Landscape, a work that has been an important inspiration for the programme. The music encourages attentive listening, with a focus on changes in sound, time and detail.

The programme spans more than a century and includes works by Paule Maurice, Bjørn Kruse, Ragnar Søderlind, Marcus Paus and Johannes Brahms. The works represent different musical languages and create contrasting musical landscapes.

Heidi Christine Holm Stømer is a saxophonist with the Royal Norwegian Navy Band and has also performed with organisations including the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Norwegian National Opera. Kristina Socanski is a pianist educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Danish Academy of Music. She works as a soloist and chamber musician and has performed in Norway, Europe and the United States.

The concert also marks the release of Duo Unitas’s new album In a Landscape.
