Bøljer i by’n (Waves in town) – Activity days

The arrangement "Bøljer i by´n" (Waves in town) was organized for the first time in 2022! In 2025, there will be an even bigger town party with local seafood, exciting activities both on water and on land, as well as a number of good offers in both shops and restaurants from the pier and all the way up into the city centre.

The program for 2025 will be updated closer to the arrangement.

Christmas market

Christmas market with local and other exhitibors. Handmade and homemade products for sale, but also exotic imports. 

Enjoy the bonfire where you can get Christmas rice-porridge and hot drinks.

The beautiful former home of shipping magnate and philanthropist Anders Jahre is now owned by the Norwegian Government. The house, which sits in 15 acres of grounds (Midtåsen), was built in the 1930s and designed by renowned Norwegian architect Arnstein Arneberg. It was the home of Anders and his wife Bess until his death in 1982, and Bess continued to live there until her death in the summer of 2006. The estate, which has a unique park containing a number of sculptures and with fantastic views over the Sandefjord fjord, is open to the general public. 

Guided tour inside the house in the summer season, NOK 250 pp. See dates below. No reservations, just meet up!

There is  a new indoor sculpture park at Midtåsen featuring a selection of the works of Knut Steen in marble and bronze. The sculptures are placed within their own pavilion in the midst of beautiful natural surroundings.

Opening hours of the Schulpture park: Every day 10.00-19.00. Free entrance.

The gorgeous park around the estate is also worth a visits and offers one of the best views of the town.

10-Top or 4-Top Walk

10 peaks in a day!

A magnificent trip that would take you to 10 peaks around town: 

Preståsen, Fjellvikåsen, Vardåsen, Gjekstadåsen, Frebergåsen, Bygdeborgen, Hjertås, Mokollen, Midtåsen and at last Mølleråsen.

The entire trip is 23 km and takes from 5-6 hours plus breaks. Alternatively, you can choose to go 4 peaks, which is 6 km and takes 2-4 hours plus breaks.

Start: at 09.00 to 12.00 from Matrosgata 6, The Sandefjord Turistforening premises. 

 

Registration and payment: www.sotf.no or at start.  You will receive a starting card, map, trail description at start. When finished, you will get a T-shirt.
