Big Ben Pub

Big Ben Pub is an English-style pub on the main square in central Tønsberg, with its own dining area, outdoor seating and live music at weekends. Stop by for pizza or light dishes, meet friends and enjoy an evening of entertainment in a historic building that has housed the pub since 1991.

Pizza and casual dining
Big Ben has its own kitchen serving Italian-style pizza and light dishes. The dining area seats around 30 guests, and tables can be reserved by phone. The menu may change, so check Big Ben's website for current dishes, prices and allergen information.

During summer, the pub opens its spacious outdoor seating area facing Tønsberg's main square, right in the middle of the town centre.

Live music and entertainment
Weekends at Big Ben feature live music, troubadour performances and DJ events. The programme varies, so check the pub's own channels for upcoming events.

A pub with an unusual history
Big Ben is housed in the historic building with the old fire hose tower on Tønsberg's main square. The site previously housed a fire station and police station, with the building constructed on the ruins of St Mary's Church towards the end of the 19th century.
The former prison cells remain part of the building. Today, they serve as the pub's toilets, with the original barred windows recalling their former use.

Groups and private events
Big Ben welcomes small private gatherings of approximately 10 to 30 people, including birthdays and social events with friends or colleagues. Contact the pub in advance to discuss the venue and dining arrangements.

Opening hours and reservations
The pub is normally open throughout the week, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays. The dining area has separate serving hours, opening from 4 pm Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday food service should be confirmed directly with the pub.

During a tandem skydive, you're securely attached to an instructor who manages the parachute and guides you through the experience.
After a flight of approximately 10–12 minutes, you'll jump from around 4,000 metres. Experience about 40 seconds of freefall at speeds of up to 200 km/h before your instructor opens the parachute at approximately 1,500 metres. The parachute descent takes around five minutes, giving you time to enjoy the views across Tønsberg, the fjord and the surrounding countryside.

What to expect on the day
When you arrive, check in at reception, receive information about your jump and complete a short briefing with your instructor. You'll be provided with a jumpsuit and the necessary safety equipment. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and trainers with laces. Allow at least 1–3 hours for your visit. Skydiving depends on suitable weather conditions, so delays or postponements may occur.

Learn to skydive yourself
Want to take the next step? Skydive Tønsberg offers AFF (Accelerated Freefall) courses, combining ground training, indoor wind tunnel training and seven skydives. Instructors accompany you during the initial jumps, helping you develop your skills and confidence in the air. The course is the first stage of further training towards becoming a qualified skydiver. Coastal trail in Moutmarka

Moutmarka lies on the south-western coast of Tjøme, just north of Verdens Ende, within Færder National Park. A blue-marked coastal trail of approximately 3 kilometres runs between the Skåebukta area and Mostranda. The walk takes you through an exposed coastal landscape with smooth rocks, rounded pebbles, grassy slopes and small patches of woodland. The sea is never far away, and the south-westerly wind can be strong.

A walk across rocks and open coastline
Moutmarka has a distinctive coastal landscape. The path crosses smooth rock formations, pebble-covered ground and open grassy areas with low vegetation. Along the trail, you will find views across the sea and shoreline. The surface varies, and some sections are uneven and rocky, so take care with your footing. Bring sturdy walking shoes and a windproof jacket, even when the weather seems mild.

From Verdens Ende towards Mostranda
One starting point is the parking area at Verdens Ende, at the southern tip of Tjøme. From here, follow Skåeveien west towards Moutmarka and join the blue-marked coastal trail heading north. At the northern end, you reach Mostranda, a sandy beach where you can stop for a break or enjoy a swim when conditions are suitable. You can return along the same trail. Alternatively, follow Moveien and the pedestrian and cycle path beside Helgerødveien towards Verdens Ende. Check the map before choosing this return route.

Prefer a circular walk?
Færder Municipality also describes a separate marked circular route of approximately 3.5 kilometres, starting near the public recreation area by Mostranda Camping. This route combines woodland and coastal paths, including Innerstien, Sydstien and Strandstien, and passes around the Jenteisen area. It is an alternative if you would like to return to the same parking area without walking the full coastal stretch towards Verdens Ende. Follow the municipality's map for the exact route.

Help protect the coastal landscape
Moutmarka is part of Færder National Park, a protected coastal area with important wildlife and natural habitats. You may encounter grazing sheep and other animals. Keep dogs on a lead, stay on established paths and respect the wildlife. Camping is not permitted in Moutmarka. Take your litter home and check the national park's rules on access and fires before visiting.

Explore more of Tjøme
You can find route maps through the Færder Municipality map service. For more coastal walks, explore Coastal trails on Tjøme and Hvasser, or combine your visit with Verdens Ende at the southern tip of Tjøme.

Plan your visit

Moutmarka is on the south-western side of Tjøme, just north of Verdens Ende. Choose between the approximately 3 km coastal trail and a separate 3.5 km circular walk described by Færder Municipality.

Distance and route options
The coastal trail between the Skåebukta and Mostranda areas is approximately 3 km one way. Return along the same route or plan an alternative return using local roads and paths. The municipality's 3.5 km circular route follows a different course and has its own map.

Starting points and parking
For the coastal trail, you can start near the Verdens Ende parking area and follow Skåeveien towards the blue-marked path. The municipality's circular walk starts near the public recreation area by Mostranda Camping, accessed via Moveien. Follow local signs and check parking conditions.

Terrain and accessibility
The coastal path has uneven surfaces, including rounded stones, smooth rocks and grassy slopes. It is exposed to the wind and is not suitable as a continuous route for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Wear sturdy footwear and bring windproof clothing.

Good to know
Moutmarka is part of Færder National Park. Camping is not permitted. Grazing animals may be present, so keep dogs on a lead and respect wildlife. Follow current rules on fires and access. Walking is possible in suitable conditions throughout the year, but rocks can be slippery.
