The Social Bar & Bistro

The Social Bar & Bistro is on the ground floor of Quality Hotel Tønsberg, overlooking the harbour and the boats along the waterfront. The restaurant serves familiar bistro dishes with a modern twist, whether you are stopping by for dinner or sharing a few small plates with friends.

Bistro favourites by the harbour
The menu includes Wiener schnitzel, steak frites and The Social Burger, which is also available with a plant-based patty. For something lighter, try fish tacos with breaded cod, mushroom toast or a selection of cheese and cured meats.
You will also find fish dishes, pizza and desserts, alongside wines, cocktails and alcohol-free drinks.

Dining overlooking the waterfront
Large windows look out towards Tønsberg harbour, giving you a view of the boats while you eat. The restaurant is a welcoming place for dinner with family or friends, or simply to meet over drinks and something small to share.

Opening hours and reservations
The Social's restaurant directory lists opening hours Monday to Saturday from 4 pm to 9:30 pm, with Sundays closed. Strawberry lists a closing time of 10 pm for the same days. The exact closing time therefore needs confirmation.

You can book a table through The Social's website or contact the restaurant on +47 33 00 41 00 or at tonsberg@socialbarbistro.no.

Via Ferrata Tjøme

Feel the excitement of climbing coastal cliffs on Tjøme, with views across the archipelago and Færder National Park. Via Ferrata Tjøme combines natural rock climbing, six abseiling descents and a zipline finale. With instruction provided and different route options, you can choose challenges suited to your experience.

Climb using natural rock holds
Unlike many traditional via ferrata routes, this course does not use iron steps fixed into the rock. Instead, you climb using natural rock holds, with a fixed safety cable providing protection and support. The route takes you across coastal rocks, gullies and steep sections of cliff. Some sections offer easier alternatives, while more experienced climbers can take on additional challenges.

Six abseils and a zipline finale
The experience includes six abseiling descents along the coastal cliffs. Experienced instructors teach you the techniques and provide guidance throughout the activity. The adventure finishes with a zipline ride. Combining climbing, abseiling and a zipline makes this a varied outdoor experience, even if you've climbed before.

Suitable for first-time via ferrata climbers
Previous via ferrata experience is not required. All participants receive instruction in safety equipment, climbing and abseiling techniques. Once the instructors are satisfied that you can use the equipment safely, you can complete parts of the route at your own pace. Guides remain available during the activity, and all participants must join through the operator's organised sessions. You'll need to be comfortable with heights and meet the operator's age, weight and safety requirements.

More outdoor adventures on Tjøme
For another activity with a coastal setting, explore the Climbing Park with Sea Views, operated by Aktiv Fritid Tjøme. It offers ziplines, suspension bridges and balance challenges. You can also explore the coastal scenery at Verdens Ende, with its rocky shoreline and views across Færder National Park.

Plan your visit
The meeting point is Base Camp, Sjøbusand 62, 3145 Tjøme. Allow approximately four hours, including instruction. Advance booking is required. Public sessions are available on selected dates, with private group bookings by arrangement.

The standard minimum age is 14. Children aged 12 and 13 may participate with an adult climber if they meet the safety requirements. The permitted weight range is 40–120 kg. All necessary safety equipment is included. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip, preferably with stiff soles, and bring drinking water and a small snack. The most challenging route options require more supportive footwear.

Parking is available at Havna Hotel, Havnaveien 50, approximately 12–15 minutes' walk from Base Camp.
