About the Performance

It is a great pleasure to welcome this iconic duo to the Færder Biennale. Originally from Tokyo, deeply rooted in butoh, and now based on Tjøme, they create a site-specific work in their own local landscape—the dramatic seascape of Verdens Ende (The World's End).

Holding one's breath, the lid of a treasure chest is gently lifted. The clocks come to a halt, and music never before heard fills the Kingdom of The Last Two.

A chalk-white lake. A twilight-colored *matsuri* float.

Even when the flag burns to ashes, the ashes continue to dance.

And every soul becomes a rooster crowing into the void.

## About MUTSUMINEIRO

MUTSUMINEIRO is a Japanese butoh duo consisting of Mutsumi and Neiro. They began their artistic collaboration in 2012 after meeting at Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio, where they studied under Yoshito Ohno. Their performance *Tonight or Never…* established their distinctive artistic language and has since been presented internationally.

Now based in Norway, the duo tours internationally, sharing butoh as a living, transformative art form that transcends cultures, borders, and audiences.
