Gospel choir SAFARI consists of 12 singers from different parts of Norway and is led by Eirik Kaasa. Several of the singers work professionally in music as solo artists, backing vocalists and singing teachers.
The choir has also collaborated with a range of artists and musicians. SAFARI performed with Kirk Franklin at the Skjærgårds Music and Mission Festival in 2010 and with Ylvis at Oslo Spektrum in 2014.
At this concert, SAFARI’s singers take centre stage, presenting gospel music with a focus on vocals and choral harmonies.
For more than 30 years, Oslo Gospel Choir has performed concerts in Norway and abroad. Over the years, the choir has become closely associated with Christmas music, and its Christmas concerts have become a tradition for many during the festive season.
In 1992, the choir released the Christmas album Tusen Julelys, and conductor Tore W. Aas wrote the Christmas song “En stjerne skinner i natt”.
Oslo Gospel Choir has performed more than 1,000 concerts and sold more than 2 million albums.
The Christmas concert “En stjerne skinner i natt” puts Christmas music and choral singing at the centre, featuring repertoire from the choir’s many years of Christmas performances.
