Tvistein
Tvistein Lighthouse was established in 1908, and the light was first lit the same autumn in a low tower on the roof of the keeper’s residence. Storage buildings and a boathouse for the lighthouse staff were also built, and the first lighthouse keeper was Johan B. Nielsen (1908–1913).

Tvistein Lighthouse is a unique cultural heritage site located on the outer edge of the archipelago off Nevlunghavn. After more than 10 years of restoration work and over 10,000 hours of volunteer effort, the lighthouse reopened for accommodation and visitors – a result of strong local commitment and dedication to preserving coastal history.

At Tvistein, visitors can experience coastal nature, history and traditional maritime culture up close. The lighthouse offers accommodation in historic surroundings close to the sea. Transport to and from the lighthouse is by boat from Laberget marina in Nevlunghavn.

Accommodation
The main season runs from 19 June to 16 August, when Tvisteins Venner serves as host at the lighthouse. Outside the hosted weeks, overnight stays are available on weekends from 14 May to 25 October 2026. Read more here.
