De grønne turene

De grønne turene, meaning the Green Hiking Trails, is an annual programme featuring ten marked walks across Sandefjord municipality. Discover new forest trails, viewpoints and rural landscapes in Andebu, Høyjord, Kodal, Stokke and Sandefjord. The routes change each year, offering residents and visitors new places to explore.

Ten trails – new experiences every year
The walks take you through varied scenery, including woodland, hills, farmland and places of local historical interest. Some routes are relatively easy, while others feature steep climbs and more demanding terrain. Choose the walks that suit your interests and experience. Each route has its own starting point, map and description. During the hiking season, the trails are marked with yellow ribbons, with route information displayed at the starting points.

Discover Sandefjord on foot
The Green Hiking Trails offer a chance to discover places you might otherwise miss. Enjoy peaceful forests, scenic viewpoints and insights into the area's natural and cultural heritage. Established in 1993, the programme is organised through cooperation between volunteers, landowners, local associations and Sandefjord Municipality. Several routes feature visitor books and letter codes. Complete at least seven of the ten trails and you may enter the municipality's annual prize draw by submitting your codes according to the current rules.

More hiking opportunities in Sandefjord
For a longer challenge, try the 10-Peak Hike in Sandefjord, a circular route across ten hilltops around the town. You can also explore the coastal path on Vesterøya and Folehavna, with woodland trails, rocky shores and coastal views. Plan your hike
The Green Hiking Trails are normally marked from the last Sunday in April until 15 September. Each year, Sandefjord Municipality publishes new maps and route descriptions showing starting points, parking, distances and estimated walking times.

Most routes follow natural terrain. Trails may be wet after rain, and vegetation can become overgrown during summer. Wear suitable walking shoes, bring a route map and choose a walk that matches your experience.

Use designated parking areas, respect landowners and follow the trail markers. Outside the official season, ribbons may have been removed, and some routes may no longer be suitable for following.

The 2026 hiking season has ended. Check the latest route information before planning your next walk.
