Christmas Art Exhibition at Fredriksvern Verft in Stavern

On the last weekend of November, visitors are invited to a Christmas art exhibition featuring a wide variety of artistic expressions. Explore the galleries, meet the artists and discover unique works of art that could make personal Christmas gifts.

This year's exhibition features 11 guest artists presenting works in different styles and techniques. Most of the permanent galleries will also be open.

Knut Bry – Reflections

November 21st 2026 – May 16th 2027

Preus Museum celebrates the 80th birthday of one of Norway's most internationally acclaimed photographers, Knut Bry, with an extensive retrospective exhibition opening on 21 November.

Knut Bry turned 80 on 3 October 2026 and has enjoyed a distinctive photographic career spanning more than 60 years. Preus Museum has recently acquired his extensive archive, containing several million photographs.

The exhibition Knut Bry – A Retrospective offers a fascinating insight into his diverse body of work, from dreamlike fashion photography and artistic expression to powerful portrayals of people and the harsh realities of life.

Throughout his career, Bry has demonstrated a unique ability to capture beauty, emotion and human stories through his camera lens.

Opening: Sigmund da Silva Lien “Paintings”

Sigmund da Silva Lien – “Paintings”

The exhibition “Paintings” by Sigmund da Silva Lien opens at Karljohansvern on Sunday 4 October at 12:00. The artist will be present at the opening.

The exhibition presents figurative and abstract oil paintings, portraits and landscapes, as well as a selection of graphic works. The main focus is on figurative painting, with depictions of people and themes exploring emotions and existential questions.

Sigmund da Silva Lien studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, among other institutions, and has worked extensively with classical techniques, colour and art history. His works combine traditional painting techniques with a contemporary expression.

The exhibition is presented in the historic surroundings of Karljohansvern and is open on Sundays in October from 12:00 to 15:00.

Autumn Exhibition at Fredriksvern

From 3–11 October, the Autumn Exhibition takes place at Fredriksvern Shipyard in Stavern. Eight guest artists will present paintings, prints, ceramics, photography and other art forms in the galleries at the historic shipyard.
