Hulder trails in Lardal

The hulder trails are 14 trails spread across Lardal with varying degrees of difficulty that takes you up to 14 hillocks. The trails are cleared and marked every year. On each hillock there is a book where you can write your name and date.

6. Myraåsen (ca. 30 min.  250 m.a.s.l.)
7. Ruketuten (ca. 1 hour. 602 m.a.s.l.)
8. Borgen-Raubergkastet (ca. 2 – 2 1/2 hour. 530 m.a.s.l.)
9. Oppsalfjellet (ca. 2 1/2 hour. 517 m.a.s.l.)
10. Aschjemåsen (ca. 1 hour to the top. 436 m.a.s.l.)
11. Tyriås (ca. 30 min to the top. 449 m.a.s.l.)
12. Pinås (ca. 3 hours. 368 m.a.s.l.)

From the hike Pinås, Vestfold's highest free-falling waterfall Trollfoss is close. With its barely 12 meters, the waterfall is surprisingly impressive and a magical experience.

The city trail in Larvik

The trail is mostly located between the urban landscapes, but parts of the walk also goes along the streets of the city. The whole trail is approx. 7.5 km long and takes approx. 2.5 hours. You can walk parts of the tour, and you can start wherever you want because the trail circles. The trail goes over 8 peaks and you get several great viewpoints along the walk, including Herregårdsfjellet, Doktorfjellet and Mesterfjellet.

The trail is placed near The manor house, Bøkelia, Hammerdalen, Badeparken, Bøkeskogen, Tyskerfjellet, Thor Heyerdahl’s childhood home and several others industrial-, local-, war- and cultural historical areas.  

The trail is marked with blue poles and can be used all year round. Please note that some parts of the trail may be difficult to access when there is a lot of snow and ice.

Along the trail you will find benches and signs with information.

Avaliability

Some parts of the trail is not accessible with a stroller or wheelchair. Parts of the trail are also more demanding.

Access

The trail is located in central Larvik. The nearest bus stops includes Larvik bibloiotek, Larvik sentrumsterminal, Skrivergården og Jegerborgsgate.

Airport Bus Service – Torp Sandefjord Airport

TO/FROM SANDEFJORD CITY CENTRE
For travel to or from Sandefjord city centre, Vy operates a shuttle bus between Torp Sandefjord Airport and Torp Station (4 minutes). From Torp Station, regular train services connect to Sandefjord. Timetables are available at vy.no.

You can also take the shuttle bus to Fokserød and transfer to VKT Route 01 for Sandefjord city centre. Timetables are available at vkt.no

SHUTTLE BUS BETWEEN FOKSERØD AND TORP
VKT operates a shuttle bus between Fokserød and Torp twice an hour. Timetables are available at vkt.no/torp.

Weekdays: Every 30 minutes from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm
Saturdays: Hourly from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm
Sundays: Hourly from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Høyjord stave church

The church´s oldest part, the chancel, is from the 12th century. The nave, however, is from the second half of the 13th century. As well as the corner posts the church has side posts and a central post. Originally it was whitewashed and decorated inside, some of this has been restored. Finn Krafft has in addition painted a number of new decorations. On the north wall are drawings of ships from the 14th century.

The crosses are from the original consecration. The restoration was completed in 1953, the arcitect was Otto L. Scheen.

The church has 150 seats.

Vallø church

Vallø church is from 1782, and is built of wood in a Louis Seize style.

Inside the church there are 300 seats.

There is also a cemetery by the church, in addition to the fact that in 1932 a cemetery was opened at Vallø Chapel, which is located a little further west of the church.

Eik church

Eik church is a modern masonry church, designed by Harald Hille. There are 300 seats in the church. The altarpiece in the church is of laminated glass, and was made by Per Odd Arrestad. This was inaugurated in 1991, and is titled "God's light in the world". The organ in the church is also from 1991, and has eight voices. This was built by Ryde & Berg.

Tjøme kirke

Tjøme church is built in a neo-Gothic style, and stands on the grounds of the former medieval church.

The church has been restored several times. Most recently in 2006, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary.

There are around 320 places inside the church.

Outside the church there is a cemetery.

Husøy Church

Husøy Church is a distinctive long church built in brick.

The surrounding cemetery with burial chapel was consecrated in 1925, and extends both south and west of the church. In 1933, the church itself, designed by Eirik Eikrann, was consecrated.

The church's exterior design is inspired by the Middle Ages with a modern twist, while the interior has a functionalist feel.

The church has 200 seats.

Veierland kirke

Veierland church is from 1905, and is a long wooden church.

There are 150 seats inside the church.

In 1964, the old name of the church "Veierland Chapel" was changed in connection with Veierland's transfer from Stokke to Tjøme. The church celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2005, and was refurbished in 2009.

Hvasser kirke

Hvasser church is a small wooden church in Færder municipality, and was built in 1903. Since then it has been expanded with a tower and entrance. The top of the tower is marked with the year 1908.

At the 100th anniversary in 2003, the wall panels, originally tree-coloured, were painted in bright green and yellow tones.

Two naves adorn the church room.

The church has a long plan and 180 seats.
