KNM Narvik

KNM Narvik – Step aboard a real warship
Located in historic surroundings in Horten, KNM Narvik (F304) is Norway’s largest floating heritage sites. More than just a museum, it offers a unique opportunity to experience life on board a real naval vessel.

A ship with a story
Built in 1966 during the Cold War, KNM Narvik served as part of Norway’s naval defense and NATO operations. The ship sailed over 850,000 nautical miles—more than 39 times around the globe—and was home to thousands of sailors. Today, it rests at the quay, but its stories live on.

Step back in time on board
As you walk up the gangway, you enter a different world. Narrow corridors, original cabins, command rooms and mess areas still reflect life at sea. Small details bring you closer to what everyday life was like on board a Norwegian warship.

Guided tours share the human stories behind the missions, making the experience both engaging and memorable.

A great experience for all
KNM Narvik is suitable for both adults and families. Visitors can explore a real ship and gain insight into an important part of Norway’s modern history—offering something a little out of the ordinary.

Practical information
The ship is open to visitors during the season from May to September. Tickets are available on board.

Kiosk with refreshments
You can enjoy coffee, light meals or something sweet in the original crew mess. A small selection of souvenirs is also available on board.

Dining and private events
For a more exclusive experience, visits can be combined with food and drinks on board—from simple lunches to elegant dinners in unique historic surroundings.

Experience the Royal Launch
You can also take to the water aboard the Royal Launch of 1976—the world’s first fully electric royal launch, originally built for the Norwegian Royal Family. Available for charter with crew from May to September, it offers a peaceful and elegant way to experience the fjord, perfect for special occasions.

KNM Narvik is preserved as a national heritage vessel and maintained for future generations.
