Borrekaupangen 2026 – Borderless trade

Step back in time as Borrekaupangen 2026 once again comes alive with trade, crafts and Viking experiences during summer 2026.

Set in the historic surroundings of Borre in Horten, one of Norway’s most atmospheric Viking markets invites visitors to enjoy days filled with history, culture and activities for the whole family.

At Borrekaupangen, you will meet Vikings from Norway and abroad recreating life as it may have been more than a thousand years ago. Explore market stalls with traditional crafts, taste historically inspired food, experience exciting battles and listen to stories from a time when Vestfold was a centre of power in the Nordic region.

The event offers interactive storytelling and activities for both children and adults. Children can try life as young Vikings, while adults can explore history, cultural heritage and authentic craft traditions.

Food at the market is provided by Bjune Gårdsdrift in collaboration with local farmers, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and flavours from Vestfold. Meals are prepared with attention to quality, tradition and local food culture.

Borrekaupangen takes place in scenic surroundings at Prestegårdstranda and the iconic burial mounds at Borre, an area considered one of Northern Europe’s most important Viking Age cultural heritage sites.

Parking

Free parking is available at USN Bakkenteigen, within walking distance of the market. Shuttle buses run continuously to and from the market during opening hours.

Parking close to the market area is also available for NOK 75.

Whether you are interested in history, visiting with family during the summer holidays or simply curious about Viking culture, Borrekaupangen offers a memorable journey back in time. Welcome to a living Viking experience!
